Building a Bitcoin position starts with decisions about price, timing and size. A BTC Accumulator brings those decisions into an agreed structure, with a predefined purchase price and buying schedule.
As Coincall and TPAC Capital prepare a new BTC structured-product experience, here is a closer look at how Accumulators work.
A predefined price and purchase schedule
A BTC Accumulator is a structured product through which a client commits to purchasing a predetermined amount of Bitcoin according to agreed terms.
The accumulation price is fixed when the transaction is established. Depending on market conditions and the structure, that price may be below the prevailing BTC spot price at inception.
Purchases then follow the contractual schedule over the product’s lifetime.
What happens if Bitcoin falls?
The predefined price also creates an obligation. If Bitcoin falls below the accumulation price, the client may still be required to purchase BTC at the agreed contractual level.
For example, an Accumulator established when BTC trades at $70,000 might have an accumulation price of $65,000. If BTC subsequently falls to $55,000, scheduled purchases may continue at $65,000, subject to the product terms.
The initial pricing benefit therefore comes with exposure to a declining market. Losses can be substantial.
How does Knock-Out work?
An Accumulator can include a predefined Knock-Out level. If the contractual barrier condition is met, the product terminates and no further scheduled BTC purchases occur.
Early termination can reduce the total amount of Bitcoin accumulated. The barrier, observation schedule and treatment of outstanding obligations are specified in the product documentation.
Understanding the full commitment
Before participating, clients should understand the purchase amount, accumulation price, schedule, maturity, Knock-Out conditions and settlement arrangements.
Coincall and TPAC will share further explainers as the upcoming product experience develops. Final terms, eligibility and availability will be confirmed before launch.
BTC Accumulators are complex structured products. Capital and returns are not guaranteed.
